“Datuk Gong” is one of the “Earth God” and also one of the Malaysia “specialty products”. The history of “Earth God” is from China, but they didn’t have “Datuk Gong” in their country; due to this reason, we say that “Datuk Gong” is one of the Malaysia “specialty products” since the name of “Datuk” is from Malay and “Gong” is a respectfully said by Chinese for those who have high moral character and has the contribution to the peoples. In Malaysia, “Datuk” is a supreme title; therefore they call the “Earth God” as “Datuk Gong”. In other words, in different countries have different national conditions and thus resulting in the different name of the god.

However, Taoism believes that the 5 paths gods are east path god, west path god, south path god, north path god and the central path god. Meanwhile among the five elements, these 5 paths gods are represent of “Metal”, “Wood”, “Water”, “Fire” and “Earth” elements. East path god represent of “Wood” element thus present of green colour, west path god represent of “Metal” element thus present white colour,  south path god represent of “Fire” element thus present red colour, north path god represent of “Water” thus present black colour and the central path god represent of “Earth” element thus present of yellow colour. Therefore, I believe that the spreading of folk in Malaysia about the green and red colour faces of “Datuk Gong” was in charge in west and south path. So, Malaysian will pray for 'Datuk Gong'.
